Welcome To The Club (Med)

written 12.16.20

Today I am going to talk about the second part of our Florida COVID Cautious Vacay.  If you read my email two weeks ago, I talked about the difference between vacations and trips.  Our recent Florida vacay was exactly the vacation we needed after what 2020 has handed us.  I know we are luckier than many, but it was still hard.  Why did I say was?  It is still hard, but at least there is now light at the end of the tunnel.  The vaccine is on the horizon, and I can not wait for the world to open up again.

I am not only going to talk about our stay at Club Med Sandpiper Bay today, but also about whatstaying at any Club Med is like.  Here is a nice little flyer that I recently received from my rep.

Two of my favorite aspects of our trips to Club Med properties are highlighted in this brochure.  The white chocolate bread was a huge hit for everyone in our family!  And I absolutely loved meeting so many Citizens of the World while spending time there.  Right now, everyone at Sandpiper Bay is American because of COVID, but when we visited Club Med Phuket last year in Thailand, we loved interacting with G.O’s from s all over the world.

What is a G.O.?  It is a concept unique to Club Med which is a French brand.  G.O. stands for Gentil Organisateur.  G.Os are ambassadors of the Club Med spirit and creators of human ties.  G.O.s embody the five core values of the Club: goodwill, freedom, responsibility, multiculturalism, and a pioneering spirit. Their responsibility is to create the friendly atmosphere that Club Med is known for.

One thing that I do not think you can really understand until you visit a Club Med property is the camp feeling.  The G.O.’s actually live on site so they develop relationships with each other that make you feel like you are part of a community.  It is this sense of community that makes families feel safe and comfortable.  I am a bit overprotective of my boys.  Yet, I felt comfortable letting them walk to get a drink or play in the sand while I was nearby.

I know my guys have felt isolated this year.  We have not let them interact indoors with anyone and have scheduled outdoor activities when we can.  It was so nice to be somewhere where all interaction took place outside.  We were lucky enough to be there at the same time as one of the co-owners of my host agency.  Her kids are around the same age as mine and they had spent some time together on a couple of occasions.

These four not only got along great, but they made friends with every other child at Club Med as they worked tirelessly each day towards digging the biggest sand hole and fort each day. It was a group endeavour that entertained them for hours each day.  When they were not digging, they enjoyed time at the Kids Club which was mostly outside and required masks.

There is a new Club Med coming to North America, and it is located in one of my favorite destinations.  This beauty is scheduled to open December 3, 2021.

This gives us all plenty of time to get our vaccines and be able to travel.  Some will not be ready to go to further until 2022, so Club Med Quebec Charlevouix is the perfect option for next ski season.

Who are my skiers out there?  While this is an all inclusive ski resort, it is being positioned as a four season resort because it is only an hour-ish away from Quebec City.  I would visit Quebec City any season, that is for certain.  It is actually Club Med’s first mountain property to operate year round.

The below video actually focuses on the winter activities though.  I really love the idea of visiting a destination to see it in a way that I don’t get to experience in my daily life.

Once I send this email, I will be gearing up for two online events this afternoon.  I will be learning more about Hygge Scandinavian culture this afternoon which could not be more well timed since this is the theme of my next virtual event kit.  Also on the agenda is a call with AmaWaterways, a river cruise specialist and one of my favorite suppliers, about Celebration and Family Travel.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know one of my bucket list items is a Christmas Market cruise in Europe.  AmaWaterways is having a Sip & Sail & Celebrate event tomorrow at 5PM Eastern which is a Virtual Holiday Cruise.  It is open to everyone, so I would love some of you to join me:  https://www.facebook.com/events/2731587303824137/

I would also love to have some of you actually join me on a Christmas Market River Cruise with Ama, but I will save that conversation for another day 🙂
